“With 5.4 billion dollars in R&D spending, Novartis reports that the company’s
pipeline involves nearly 140 projects in various stages of clinical
development,” explains In.vision CEO, John Friske. “We are very pleased to play
a role with Novartis and our other pharmaceutical partners in bringing
medications to market more quickly and more safely by allowing authors to
concentrate on health related content instead of the underlying computer
technology.”
The Physician’s Labeling Rule is designed to help the primary users of
prescribing information, healthcare professionals. The FDA evaluated the
usefulness of prescribing information among healthcare professionals to
determine whether and how communication could be improved. After broad
consultation with the public and industry, it was clear that prescribing
information could be more effective in communicating drug information and there
was overwhelming support for FDA's goal of improving the content and format and
for the proposed reordering of sections.
In.vision plays a primary role in enabling drug manufacturers, the primary
authors of prescribing information, to incorporate the requirements of the
Physician’s Labeling Rule into their drug submission process with a minimum of
business disruption. This benefits both the public and the pharmaceutical
companies that can bring products to market more quickly. To date, In.vision has
delivered more licenses for the authoring of structured products labels that
meet the FDA’s new guidelines than all other vendors combined.
